There has never been, nor will there ever be ,anything quite so special as the love between a mother and a son!
Speedpost--to my six year old son!

I always feel a rush of adrenalin when I write... write letters to my loved ones. As a child I read Shobha De's Speedpost . What a fantastic collection of letters written by a mother to her kids.

Kavim and I share a very emotional bond. I thought there couldn't be a better way of expressing my love for him than writing letters and poems addressed to him.

He is just six years old however he cherishes the idea of his mom writing especially for him. He has a little treasure box and he stores all his precious things including my letters to him in that box.

Oh ! I feel so special.

So here is my recent letter to him.....

Dear son,
         First of all let me tell you that I am enjoying every single second of watching you grow into the young and super gentle boy,  whom I see at my home everyday .

Its such a pleasure to be your mom. You are just six years old but so responsible...When mumma is not well you take care of her like a grown up. So many times you come and ask me about my well being. I really feel blessed.

The myriad of love notes you have written to me. The way you tell me- 'Mammai you are the best mom ever.'  Awwww I feel just so special!

I would like to believe that your dad and I are passing our heart and willingness to help others on to you. But the goodness in your soul?? That is all you. I can not tell how lucky I am to be your mom.

Your dad often tells me that Kavim surely has his mom's genes --the way you make a heart with your hands...the way you express your love --Pappai feels only you and your mom can do that..haha but dont worry even papai is learning...

Kavim do you know how proud I feel when your teacher tells me what a fine boy you are ! Yesterday at the parents teacher meeting I heard her saying that Kavim has grown up as an individual not just academically but as a person on the whole....
I really want you to be a good human being before any thing else.

The other day when your chess teacher was at home she kept praising you for who you are-- I felt an intese sense of joy. She kept on saying - ' ele e muito educado, muito querido, muito bonzinho.'
 ( he is ver polite, very well mannered,very dear and such a good boy. )

You are the apple of everyone's eye. Your grandparents adore you. your family loves you. It has so much to do with you being so kind and responsible.

You are always very loving towards your friends. You share your things. You never initiate a fight. You understand other people's feelings.

The other day when one of your friend was late to school and was very scared you opened the door for him and made him feel comfortable. I'm proud of you.

Sometimes when someone is not nice to you , you tend to feel sad and believe me Kabbu its very natural. Senstivity is brave-I know we dont hear much about boys being sensitive, they are often told to 'toughen up' --I promise you won't hear that from me. You have a beautiful heart and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I feel delighted (like nanu ) when you are eager to learn new things....when you self correct yourself by little guidance from us.

I do understand that being a perfectionist is not easy. You get irritated when things dont go your way.
I'll take an example of yesterday. You were practising Nelson cursive handwriting. You were doing a fairly good job however you you were not satisfied. For a moment you thought that you cant do it.
Then I told you about that story of centipede who despite of having 100 legs couldnt move. You asked why?? I told you it was because he started thinking which leg should he move first..which one should he move after that...he was thinking a bit too much.  Sometimes when you analyze a lot it becomes difficult or impossible to do even a simple task.
I told you hard work and believing in yourself are the two most important things...and then you understood and you started singing 'I believe I can fly...I believe I can touch the sky...'

It was so much fun to sing this song with you.
Afterwards when you sat down to write even you were amazed with the quality of your work.
Keep working hard because hard work beats talent.

There is only one you-You are unique and very special!

I love you to the space and back.

My angel I am a better person, a better friend, a better mother, daughter and yes , human being after having had you with me. We will always be there with you to celebrate or to pick you up.
Lovingly yours
Mammai

Let me share a poem that I wrote when you were just one year old.

                              उन्मुक्त गगन का पंक्षी

आज जाना क्या होता है
           माँ बाबा का प्यार .......
जब सूरत उसकी निहार निहार ;
                   हुई मैं  निहाल.........

जब छोड़ मेरा घोंसला ;
           पंख वह फैलायेगा .....
शीशे की तरह शायद;
       चूर चूर दिल मेरा हो जायेगा..

बना सकती तो जरुर बनाती;
           सोने का राजमहल ....
चारो तरफ सिपाही होते;
  यूँ  पलता मेरा राज कुंवर.....

पर उन्मुक्त गगन के इस प्राणी को ;
         कैद अगर मैं  कर लूँगी....
अपने स्वार्थ में अपनों का;
 जीवन व्यर्थ मैं  कर दूंगी....

सुन मेरे बेटे....जी भर तू भर उडान ;
  गिरेगा जब तू दिल दुखेगा मेरा....
पर जब गिर के उठेगा तू जन्नत का सुख होगा मेरा.....

आज़ादी तुझे है;
     भर उडान लम्बी...
हो जरुरत कभी तो माँ तेरी है;
 हर मोड़ पर साथ देने तेरा खड़ी......

  आशा करती हूँ ...
   प्रार्थना करती हूँ........
ज़िन्दगी की इस जंग में ...
हो जीत तेरे संग में.....

है तेरी माँ का वादा;
  तेरे हर फैसले में ...
दूंगी साथ तेरा....
क्योकि प्यार   तुझसे करती हूँ .....
हद से कुछ ज्यादा....

एक दिन जब तू ;
बनाएगा घोंसला अपना....
गले लगाऊँगी  उसे ;
जो होगा तेरा अपना......
मैंने देखा है यह सपना.....

खुशियाँ का दे उपहार तुझे;
और क्या करना मुझे....
दुनिया से तेरी धीरे से सरक जाउंगी...
तू रहेगा सदा मेरे दिल में बस तुझे नज़र मैं ना आउंगी ...

जब चीं चीं का शोर घोंसले से तेरे आएगा;
  मेरी तरह उस दिन तू भी कहेगा.....
आज जाना मैंने क्या होता है ;
माँ बाबा का प्यार....

A trip to the Aquarium -Sao Paulo Aquarium

Ocean in the city

One, two, three, four, five once I caught a fish alive...
six, seven, eight , nine, ten then I let it go again...
Why did you let it go?
Because it bit my finger so....

Well , my menino (little boy ) suggested why dont we visit the aquarium? Hmmm.. 'Aquarium would be nice' , I thought as there will be no risk of a fish biting me...

On a  Sunny Saturday morning we decided to spend the day as per the wishes of our little prince. So we headed to the aquarium. A very simple building from out side--Kinda disappointing ..Believe me you won't be able to judge the kind of magical fun that awaits you.

Can you imagine that along with us there are two POLAR BEARS living in Sao Paulo city ??

The Polar bears at the Aquarium !

Our happinesss after seeing a polar bear for the first time in our lives can not be put into words ..however our kind little boy was happy and on the other hand very sad for the two Polar bears--

Kavim-- they must be feeling so suffocated here
Me- hmmm
Kavim--They must be missing their family and the ice...there is no snow here.
Me- I do agree with you but the people here take good care of them. They have put lots of air conditioners so that they bears dont feel hot.
Kavim- But look the bears dont look happy.There are no seals and fish for them to eat
Me- Really kind of you to think so much about the bears but I'm sure their caretakers give them good food....

And while we were talking the mumma bear jumped into the water while the baby bear was enjoying his siesta....What a sight it was! We have never seen a beautiful swimmer than the Polar bear. so Magnificient and elegant even while swimming....They are such powerful swimmers.

Kavim was really enjoying his day at the aquarium.It was fun spending our day together while listening to our little boy's chatter about the charecterstics of different sea animals as he spotted and identified them.

Kavim has a special love for animals , especially sea creatures. As a toddler he would watch 'octonauts' then we would read about those animals...thats how this love affair happened!

"My passion for surfing was more than my fear of sharks."
Bethany Hamilton

Kavim is surely a water baby. He wanted to befriend the shark .

Spot on! As soon as we saw Mr. Anaconda we remembered our trip to amazon. 'They like to be in or near water , and they are excellent swimmers. It can kill its prey by coiling its muscular body around the creature and squeezing until the animal could no longer breathe.
It swallows its prey whole. ' --Kavim reminded us of the fact but we were relieved as there was a glass wall between us and the Mr Anaconda.
ON our trip to amazon we saw a picture where a man was swallowed by an anaconda. Later when the body of the anaconda was cut open the body of the man was found!
BY THE WAY who can forget the iconic movie - ANACONDA  ??
Amazon fun when we actually got to wrap the Anaconda around our neck.

Kavim remembered his trip to the amazing amazon!

At the aquarium we saw Boa constrictor as well.

Sao Paulo museum is really a pearl in the ocean. They have such beautiful collection of exotic fish.

This Aquarium has the absolute biggest Moray Eel we've ever seen!

Have a look at this beautiful Sting Ray we spotted there.
Kavim mentioned that his mom has a dress like that--I told him even designers take inspiration from nature

                                                                   God is so creative !
My Shark uuuu with his loving dad!

My love and respect for this beautiful creature called Sea horse- He who shares equal responsibilities.
When it comes to family life,
Its as simple as can be ,
Mumma lays her eggs in papa's pouch and he has the family.
Then mumma just sits back and laughs,
She has it pretty nifty,
While papa tails and tends his 'colts of atleast two hundered and fifty.'

We have so much to learn from these creatures at this fantabulous aquarium.

It claims to be the single thematic aquarium in South America. You'll surely feel immersed in the environment that has approximately 3000 specimen of about 300 species of animals.

There is a beautiful pretend airport and you are transported to different places like Africa, Indonesia, Australia and even to South pole and North pole .

After seeing the Marine life we went to Africa. It was simply amazing. All the animals were so playful however our personal favorite was the MEERKAT. The pups were super cute. Kavim wanted to spend the whole afternoon watching and interacting with them. 'Momma they are so adorable ' he quipped.

On my way to Africa

He was reminded of Madagascar

look at the beautiful Meerkats

He loves to interact with animals

We were then taken to Indonesia where we met the flying foxes. Honestly they were too big to be called bats and they scared the life out of us!

As if this was not enough Kavim spotted a reticulated Python from Indonesia. We thought its better to run away from this place..

Ahaaaaa we were now in Australia---We were pinching ourselves...we were pinching each other because we couldnt believe what we saw--lots and lots of kangaroos hopping here and there . It was simply incredible!

They had few other animals but what really got us excited was the fact that a Koala is on its way to Sao Paulo. We'll be going soon to meet Mr. Koala!

The Sao Paulo Aquarium (Aquario de Sao Paulo) is situated in the Ipiranga neighborhood of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The aquarium in Sao Paulo exhibits a variety of interesting animals such as Two-toed Sloth, Subantarctic Fur Seal, Magellanic Penguin, Flying Fox, South American Fur Seal, Pantanal Alligator, Neotropical Otter, and Amazonian Manatee. Some of the fish at the aquarium are Blue Tang, Yellow Tang, White-blotched River Stingray, Spotted sorubim, Red belly piranha, Electric eel, Green Moray, Piracanjuba, Dogface Puffer, Dusky Grouper, Southern Stingray, and Clownfish. The reptiles at the aquarium are Boa, Green Anaconda, Burmese Python, and Reticulated Python. There are various species of sharks at the aquarium, including, Sand Tiger Shark, Nurse Shark, and Cat Shark.

We even took a ride and entered the Prehistoric age.. A mammoth was there to have fun with us.

The place wsas much better than we expected! I love these family outings.

We were about to sit and have our lunch but what we saw even our eyes could not believe. We saw a mermaid..yes a mermaid.

What do you do when yo see a MERMAID?? MERMAID --at the aquarium you just run and run towards it. I felt like a little girl when I saw that beautiful mermaid...all the fairytales and the fairies and the mermaids came dancing to my mind...I was on cloud nine...
Me-Kavim look there is a Mermaid.
Kavim- hmmmm
Me--lets go and meet her...she is sooo pretty.
Kavim- Mom mermaids are not real. She is a normal girl swimming in the water wearing a mermaid costume!
Me--come on Kavim ...they do exist ! She is real!
Kavim--You are joking right ?
Me-Darling life is magical and mermaids spread the magic!

Till then we were near the mermaid and believe me she was really spreading her magic...she was so pretty..

What a beautiful day we had at the aquarium. We are already planning to go for the night presentation. they make you go around the aquarium in the night while telling you about the night habitats of various animals . The biggest attraction is going to be the campfire! Oh we are so excited!

These day trips are so much fun!
